Virat Kohli has reportedly shown a keen interest to have Yuvraj Singh as a teammate in the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) side for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

According to a report in the national daily, Kohli has spoken to Yuvraj and has informed the south-paw that he wishes to buy him in the IPL auctions – scheduled to be held February 12 and 13. RCB has never won the IPL and will be looking to re-jig their side after retaining three players from last year’s squad – Kohli, Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers. Yuvraj’s inclusion can add to the all-round abilities of the side.

Yuvraj Singh played the last edition of the tournament for the now defunct Sahara Pune Warrirors. He has also played for Kings XI Punjab and though he currently remains out of the national side, his T20  record can make him a valuable asset.

The 32-year-old has seven fifties from 34 T20Is and has a menacing strike-rate of over 153. His performance in IPL has also been decent with five fifties and a strike-rate of a little over 130. Apart from his batting and part-time bowling skills, Yuvraj also brings experience to the team he plays for – a fact that may be enticing Kings XI Punjab to bid for him as well although reports suggest ties between Kings XI and the veteran player are currently strained.
